阅读短文,判断句子正误,正确的写T,错误的写F 。

In recent years, the Chinese auto industry has seen rapid growth, with the demand on private cars rising sharply in Chinese cities since 2002.

By 2009, China has replaced the U.S. to become the world's largest auto market. As an important part of the world car industry, the global auto industry will shift further to China. This brings historical opportunity to China's auto market.

Currently, both the development of China's auto market and the changes in consumer demand for vehicles are ever -increasing. China's auto industry will continue to grow in the next decade. It means there is still huge room for its development. China has an urban population of more than 600million. It also has a huge agricultural vehicle market in the rural areas. Hence, there is no doubt for China's development of auto industry. That is also the reason why the world's auto producers are paying more attention to the Chinese market.

()26. The demand on private cars increased greatly in Chinese cities since 2002.

()27. China has become the world's largest auto market.

()28. China's auto industry tends to decrease in the next decade.

()29. China has an urban population of less than 600 million.

()30. The reason why the world's auto producers are paying more attention to the Chinese market is that China's auto industry developed very quickly.

Since the early 1980s, scientists have revealed some 40 human genes involved in cancer. Th
ese genes are essential for normal growth, but can be subverted to cause a tumor.

Dr. Jorge Yunis of the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis has found that 70 percent of oncogenes, or cancer-causing genes, are located near inherited weak points on chromosomes(染色体). Varying from individual to individual, vulnerable to chemical carcinogens(致癌剂), X rays and other cancer-inducing agents.

"If a chromosome snaps apart in the immediate vicinity of an oncogene," says Yunis, "normal genetic control mechanisms could break down and the stage would be set for the formation of cancer." Younis has shown that such a sequence occurs at the beginning of numerous leukemias (白血病), lymphomas(淋巴瘤) and some tumors of the lung, colon(结肠) and breast.

Yunis and other investigators have found that petroleum-based products--notably pesticides and insecticides-damage specific sites on at least two of the 23 pairs of human chromosomes that carry genetic information. Similarly, tobacco smoke tends to attack a part of another chromosome.

From paragraph 1, we know that some 40 genes involving in cancer are ______. ()

A.harmful to the human body

B.necessary to the human body

C.the elements that form. cancer

D.useless to the human body

The forest from which man takes his timber is the tallest and most impressive plant commun
ity on Earth. In terms of man's brief life it appears permanent and unchanging, save for the seasonal growth and fail of the leaves, but to forester it represents the climax of a long succession of events.

No wooded landscape we see today has been forest for all time. Plants have minimum requirements of temperature and moisture and, in ages past, virtually every part of Earth's surface has at some time been either too dry or too cold for plants to survive. However, as soon as climatic conditions change in favor of plant life, a fascinating sequence of changes occurs, called a primary succession.

First to colonize the barren land are the lowly lichens, surviving on bare rock. Slowly, the acids produced by these organisms crack the rock surface, plant debris accumulates, and mosses establish a shallow root-hold. Ferns may follow and, with short grasses and shrubs, gradually form. a covering of plant life. Roots probe even deeper into the developing soil and eventually large shrubs give way to the first trees. These grow rapidly, cutting off sunlight from the smaller plants, and soon establish complete domination-closing their ranks and forming a climax community which may endure for thousands of years.

Yet even this community is not everlasting. Fire may destroy it outright and settlers may cut it down to gain land for pasture or cultivation. If the land is then abandoned, a secondary succession will take over, developing much faster on the more hospitable soil. Shrubs and trees are among the early invaders, their seeds carried by the wind, by birds and lodged in the coats of mammals.

For as long as it stands and thrives, the forest is a vast machine, storing energy and many elements essential for life.

What does the forest strike mankind as permanent?

A.The trees are in community.

B.The forest is renewed each season.

C.Man's life is short in comparison.

D.It is an essential part our lives.

Questionsare based on the following passage.

When you think about the growth of human population over the last century or so, it is alltoo easy to imagine it merely as an increase in the number of humans. But as we(36), so doall the things associated with us,(37)our livestock (家畜). At present, there are about 1.5 bil-lion cattle and domestic buffalo and about 1.7 billion sheep and goats. With pigs and poultry, they form. a(38)part of our enormous biological footprint upon this planet.

Just how enormous was not really apparent until the(39)of a new report, called "Live-stock"s Long Shadow," by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

Consider these numbers. Global livestock grazing (放牧) and feed production use "30percent of the land surface of the planet." Livestock —— which consume more food thanthey(40)—— also compete directly with humans for water. And the drive to expand grazingland destroys more biologically sensitive terrain, rain forests(41), than anything else.

But what is even more striking, and alarming, is that livestock are(42)for about 18 per-cent of the global warming effect, more than transportation"s(43). The culprits (罪魁祸首)are methane —— the natural result of bovine digestion —— and the nitrogen emitted by manure.

Deforestation of grazing land adds to the effect.

There are no easy trade-offs when it comes to global warming —— such as cutting back oncattle to make room for cars. The human(44)for meat is certainly not about to end anytimesoon. As "Livestock"s Long Shadow" makes clear, our health and the health of the planet de-pend on pushing livestock production in more(45)directions.
